My GPS is Despondent

I'm a bit worried about my GPS, I call her Chloe since I have the British voice and it seemed a nice name. Seems she's taken to throwing herself from my window while we're driving in fits of desperation when I don't listen to her and follow her directions. At first I thought she was being a bit, shall we say bitchy, about things, but now I think she's feeling a bit unloved and under-appreciated.

It all started when we were driving to Pennsylvania to our daughter's house. I know the way by now so I just turned her on so I can see the upcoming roads. She seemed a bit miffed that I wasn't using her and dropped from the window a few times. After that we put her away. On the trip to North Carolina it got worse. I ignored her suggestions and went around DC on the beltway and then it got nasty. She flung herself from the window every thirty-minutes or so after that. I don't know if she was trying to escape the car, or if she was trying to hang herself with the power cord. At any rate, it wasn't a pretty sight.

We solved the problem by moistening her suction cup and cleaning the window surface. After a little TLC she seemed to be in better spirits and stayed on for the rest of the trip, even sending us to the preferred exit off route 40 instead of the one she usually tries to send us to. I'm going to try to be more respectful now and boost her self-esteem.

I get the feeling that she isn't all that happy with her lot, or with me for that matter. In fact if she were my spouse I probably wouldn't be getting lucky in the foreseeable future. Maybe my GPS just has PMS. I thought about switching back to the American voice, but that one is too judgmental. Maybe French would work. I wouldn't understand her, but she'd sound prettier when she told me off. I keep waiting for her to say, "Why don't you just tell me the route you want to take."

Maybe we just need to learn to communicate better.
