New Review

Got another nice review for Dead Men Don't jog today. This one is from Robert Bailey, author of the Art Hardin series.

Hello Maria Hart, a cool breeze from the Windy City. She is a full time wife and mother--part time insurance investigator. Maria makes her debut with a case involving a dead man pursuing his second life in the Second City.

Alan Flarke, a thief of hearts and money, takes the events of September Eleventh in New York City as an opportunity to escape with his ill gotten gain into a debauched life of money and murder in the city of Chicago. One morning he is out for a jog and runs straight into trouble. He is accidentally photographed by an old aquaintance. At that point the donuts hit the glaze and Maria Hart, insurance investigator, is on the job.

Chris Forman does a creditable job of writing across the genders to create an intimate, lovable, and full-figured--in a 1950's, Marilyn Monroe sort of way--portrait of a determined Maria Hart. Maria, daughter of a police family, is not afraid of a culprit or a Krispy-Creme.

Chris is at his best in the mind and actions of the antagonist, Alan Flarke. Some picayune craft issues and the frenetic organization of DEAD MEN DON'T JOG cause me to save the last star for his future use.
